Thunderball Grotto, Exuma

"While Thunderball Grotto has had it’s fair share of Hollywood spot light, the pristine and natural beauty of the underwater cave system provides an incredible habitat for a well balanced mini-ecosystem"

This location was the inspiration behind SeaMonkey’s Bait Ball Collection.

Nested just off the coast of Staniel Cay in the Bahamas is the breathtaking Thunderball Grotto. Accessible only by boat, this location consists of an underwater cave system full of colorful coral and a variety of marine life.  While Thunderball Grotto may only look like a small uninhabited rock formation on the outside, the grotto consists of impressive underwater tunnels and a stunning hollow interior providing rays of light dancing through the opening.  Thunderball Grotto attracts water enthusiasts from around the globe where just beneath the surface are schools of tropical fish swimming about in this impressive underwater paradise.

Thunderball Grotto obtained it’s name after the famous 1963 James Bond “Thunderball” film. The grotto was also featured in an additional James Bond film in 1983 called “Never Say Never” and was also featured in Hollywood hits “Splash” and “Into the Blue”.

While Thunderball Grotto has had it’s fair share of Hollywood spot light, the pristine and natural beauty of the underwater cave system provides an incredible habitat for a well balanced mini-ecosystem.  If you are looking for pure bliss under the sea, be sure to visit this beautiful location just off of Staniel Cay in the Exumas.
